Behind every great film director are a team of talented professionals, each with a unique gift of skill and creativity in their field, who work tirelessly to support the director and bring their vision to life.

Each day of A Gathering of the Angels: A Celebration of the World of David Lynch, we will be hosting exclusive online panel discussions with some of these inspirational creatives to celebrate two special anniversaries for 2026.

SATURDAY 26TH SEPTember: 40 years of blue velvet

In the first of our online panel discussions, we meet some of the industry professionals who helped realise David Lynch's masterpiece, Blue Velvet.

Released in 1986, Blue Velvet was dramatic, horrifying, seductive and compelling. Many praised the bold directorial decisions, whilst others criticised its portrayal of sexual violence, but over time Blue Velvet earned its place as one of the most influential films of the decade and a landmark of surreal American filmmaking.

This thrilling discussion will take place on the Saturday of our event, and we can't wait to hear all of the creatives stories of how they, and David Lynch, made cinema history with this incredible film.

SUNDAY 27th SEPTEMBER: 20 years of Inland Empire

20 years after Blue Velvet was released, David Lynch intrigued audiences once again with the 2006 release of Inland Empire. The surrealism was off the scale, the imagery beyond imagination and Laura Dern's performance was something that most of us are still processing.

And then, of course, there's that infamous moment where David Lynch sat on a street corner in Hollywood, with a cow, and championed Laura Dern for an Oscar, which sadly didn't happen. Don't believe us? Read it here for yourselves!

In the second of our online panels, we will be joined by more of Lynch's creatives and collaborators who helped make his vision a reality. Famously, David Lynch didn't just write and direct this film, he shot, edited and created the score. Overall, Inland Empire was a real labour of love and took 3 years to make and we can't wait to hear about the whole process.

The first Creatives for both panels will be announced soon but we are super pleased to announce that producer Sabrina Sutherland, who will be in attendance at the event, will be taking part in the Sunday Inland Empire panel.

Both of these exciting online panels will be hosted by film lecturer Andreas Halskov. A long term admirer of David Lynch, Halskov regularly holds talks in Lynch's works and has collaborated with many of Lynch's creatives in relation to his own educational work and has interviewed over 100 in relation to his latest book, co-written by John Thorne, which is an oral history of Lynch's films and TV Productions. Halskov also teaches at the David Lynch Graduate School of Cinematic Arts and we are grateful to him for his curation and hosting of these wonderful discussions.
